Chamee Yang is an American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Postdoctoral Fellow in Science, Technology, and Society Program. She received her Ph.D. in Communication and Media from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her primary intellectual interests are: histories and theories of digital media; cities and technocultures in Asia; histories of militarism, security, and surveillance. She is currently working on a book project on the genealogy of “smart” urbanism in South Korea and its related histories of militarized national/urban governance, global logistics, network infrastructures, and democratic citizenship. Previously she received a Dissertation Completion Fellowship from the University of Illinois and PhD Scholarship from the Ilju Academy and Culture Foundation from South Korea. Chamee received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in Communication from Seoul National University in South Korea.
