STS.860 HASTS Dissertation Writing Workshop (6 units)
Fall 2024 – Wednesdays 11am-1pm (meets every 2 weeks) | First class meets on 9/4
William Deringer
Bi-weekly seminar for HASTS students* who have completed research and are in the process of writing their dissertations. Each class will focus on a particular element of the writing: organizing chapters, engaging the secondary literature, the art of the vignette, etc. Depending on student needs, some classes may be tailored to anthropological writing (integrating ethnography and theory, e.g.) or to historical writing (with a guest instructor). Students will have ample opportunity to workshop draft passages and chapters.
*PhD students outside the HASTS program require Instructor permission.
