IAP 2025 Practical Field Lab: Transformative Value Chains Development and Education

Professor Chakanesta Mavhunga has an exciting opportunity for MIT undergraduate students to travel to Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) in Kenya to take part in a 12-unit Field Class in Kenya, STS.S23. Focus on building fish value chains, climate adaptation and mitigation, and rural industrialization.

The application is now open and the deadline to apply is November 1.  Applicants will by notified of the decisions by November 15.  Class runs from 1/4/25-1/31/25.  There is funding is available for MIT undergraduate students to cover roundtrip airfare, accommodation, food, and ground transportation.

Deadline to apply: Extended to Monday, November 4 at 11:59pm! 

Students selected for the class will need to attend the MIT-Africa international health and safety session on Nov. 21 from 5pm – 7pm in 32-155.  There will also be one other pre-departure session focused on Kenya, which will be scheduled at a later time.
