Fall 2011
Wednesdays, 1-4 pm in E51-393
This reading seminar to be co-taught by Michael M.J. Fischer and Byron Good will focus on one major theorist with supplementary readings from others. In fall 2011, we will focus on the writings of Jacques Derrida. Special concerns will be on the themes of ghosts and hauntings, with supplements from thinking about science, technology, media, politics and mental health issues in Indonesia (Southeast Asia), Iran (Middle East), and elsewhere, as well as with Derrida’s abiding concern with antiquity and the Greeks.
