Joint Major in STS
This program leads to one diploma, either an SB in Humanities and Science (Course 21S) OR an SB in Humanities and Engineering (Course 21E).
The STS portion of the degree is nine subjects as follows:
- One STS Tier I subject
- One STS Tier II subject
- STS.004 Intersections: Science, Technology, and the World *
- Four other STS subjects forming a coherent group of study**
- Pre-thesis tutorial (STS.ThT)
- Thesis (STS.ThU)
Plus 6 science subjects or 6 engineering subjects beyond the GIRs to complete the science/ engineering portion of the degree.

* For students who matriculated before Fall 2017, the STS.004 requirement can also be fulfilled by STS.091.
**This is an update effective AY2020-2021. The prior requirement was five other STS subjects.
